About Dr. TP Mogotlane
Dr. Thabo is a distinguished psychiatrist specializing in addiction psychiatry, renowned for his expertise in addiction medicine, child and adolescent psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, and chronic pain management. He earned his MBCHB degree from the Medical University of South Africa and his Master’s in Medicine from the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University. Holding a Fellowship in psychiatry (CMSA), he also has a subspecialty in Addiction Psychiatry (CMSA), the first person in SA, and an MPhil in addiction medicine from Stellenbosch University. Dr. Thabo serves as a senior lecturer at various prestigious institutions, including Job Shimankana Tabane Hospital, Stikland Hospital, Stellenbosch University, and Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University. His exceptional contributions have been recognized with the Service Excellence Award from Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in 2017, as well as the Best Junior Lecturer Award in 2018 and 2019.
He is the recipient of the Discovery Subspecialist Award for 2024/2025. Dr. Mogotlane is dedicated to providing top-quality care to his patients and advancing the field of psychiatry through his teaching and research endeavors. He oversees a mental health training program designed to enhance doctors’ abilities in treating mental illness, particularly those serving in rural areas of South Africa. His unwavering commitment and accomplishments have earned him the admiration and respect of his peers and colleagues.
